Giant Springs - Giant Springs Heritage State Park, MT. Lewis discovered Giant Springs while scouting the portage route. It is one of the largest freshwater springs in the world, discharging 8,000,000 gallons per hour. It flows into one of the shortest rivers in the world, the Roe River (201 ft. long), on its way to the Missouri.
